Scaling Inventory WIP Monitoring Capabilities for a Holdings Company

A holdings company overseeing 150+ parent entities struggled to make sense of their inventory WIP data across their entire portfolio. The existing Excel process made it difficult to compare performance and flag areas requiring follow-up. The overwhelming volume of information needed to be condensed into a simplified dashboard capable of providing both holistic and detailed views of trends.

The Solution:

Data Prep U automated the company's existing Excel process into a Power BI dashboard, consolidating data from all parent entities.  This gave the company full visibility into inventory across their entire portfolio, allowing for timely identification of areas requiring attention. As part of a broader initiative to make data more accessible, the client expanded the dashboard's reach by publishing it company-wide, sharing timely insights across teams and fostering better decision-making and transparency throughout the organization.

Empowering an Internal Audit Department with Automated AP Audits

A small internal audit department wanted to pilot the use of analytics in their audit processes, starting with the Accounts Payable (AP) audit. Limited bandwidth and a manual, sample-based approach prevented them from auditing all transactions, reducing overall coverage and efficiency..

The Solution:

Data Prep U collaborated with the team to document and fully automate the AP audit, enabling full transaction coverage and periodic monitoring. The success of this pilot generated momentum, leading the department to explore using analytics in other audits, ultimately repositioning them as an analytics leader within the company.
